The Broker by John Grisham

Updated: Mar 6, 2021

Overview – This book put me in Italy. I felt as though I was the broker being sent half way across the country to Italy after being released from prison to start a new life. Being in Italy he must learn Italian and blend in with the culture there. While there he realizes something isn’t right. As with most of John Grisham’s Novels I was completely captivated while reading this but I cannot remember the plot of this book in its entirety. Certain parts stand out but I can’t recall every element.

Theme- Adapt and rebuild.

Biggest takeaway – There was a part of this story where the protangist is in a coffee shop speaking with the CIA people who are watching over him as he assimilates to the culture in Italy. He is tasked with taking the bag of the CIA member and in a flash the lights go dark and his bag is removed. This part sticks for how Grisham made this happen in a few pages but also made it captivating.

Overall Satisfaction – 7.6/10 – Great read but a forgettable plot

Comments on the Author – This book put me in Italy. I love the way Grisham writes and his ability to make the story come alive where the reader feels they are interacting and living the environment is wonderful. Another great read from Grisham.
