The Power of Ambition: Unleashing the Conquering Drive Within You! By Jim Rohn

Writer: Cameron ShabazzCameron Shabazz

Overview – Whether this was Jim Rohn’s first, second or twelfth book it is a cornerstone of his for me. There were so many quotable lines in this book and statements I wanted to remember I had a list of sayings in my notes called “Good Sayings” which grew and grew and grew as I read this book. This book was so beneficial, helpful, and inspiring all while giving the Jim Rohn charm, a helpful hand, and witty humor. Stumbling upon him after hearing of him being discussed by Tony Robbins. I was hooked after hearing only a few of his lectures I came across this book and it became a favorite instantly.

Theme – Unleashing the Power Within

Biggest takeaway – In this book there were ten points of being successful. Those points I used as a jumping off point to highlight for each scene in my first novel Yoyo and Joseph or The American Dream. Those were as follows: Self-confidence, Enthusiasm, Expertise, Preparation, Purpose, Self-Reliance, Image, Character, Self-Discipline. These qualities highlight the best of a person and when they all are merged, they create a well rounded individual ready to tackle anything life can throw at them. I am writing this with a heavy heart a child idol of mine passed some days ago and it is the only thing on my mind. Reviewing these qualities Kobe Bryant embodied all of them and I know he instilled them in his daughters. His passing is a heavy blow to everyone who knew him but his light and energy live on whenever someone does what they love, excels to be the best and pushes pass failures. He is very important to my development and work ethic and will continue to my guiding muse throughout my life. I hope I am elected to paradise so I can see you again beautiful man Kobe. RIP Gianna Bryant.

Overall Satisfaction – 9.2/10 – Great book, amazing reread value and great story telling.

Comments on the Author – Jim Rohn is played almost every morning when I wake up to workout. He is the backdrop in my personal development and what to do to improve myself. “Work harder on yourself than you do on your job” has been imprinted on my brain and I continue to my personal development and not simple work on the job. Also, principles of planning are reading are essential to success I’ve adapted both with more severity.
